Evaluating an Eco-Driving Training Programme
Our Research

Reducing fuel consumption is a goal shared by businesses and governments. Training drivers in eco-driving techniques is one approach to reducing fuel consumption but has rarely been rigorously evaluated. In a project funded by the European Commission, we evaluated fuel efficient driver training using a driving simulator. The research showed that fuel economy improved by 11.6% immediately following the eco-driving training and six months after training the fuel consumption was 16.9% lower than before the training.
